Alexia Khadime Will Be London's Next Elphaba in Wicked

Alexia Khadime, who is currently starring as Nala in the London production of The Lion King, is set to be the West End's new Elphaba. Khadime will star in the role in Wicked at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre beginning on June 9.

Khadime originally joined the cast of The Lion King in 2001 when she was 17. She returned to the show in May 2005 to star as Nala and has been playing the role ever since. Her other theater roles include Candy in the national tour of Whistle Down the Wind; Ronnie Spector in the national tour of Leader of the Pack and Cinderella The Musical at the Hackney Empire.

Kerry Ellis, currently starring as Elphaba, will depart from the London production on June 7 to star in the Broadway production at the Gershwin Theatre, beginning on June 17. She will return to the London production on December 1. Khadime is set to play Elphaba in the West End until November 29.
