The Drama Desk is an organization of theater journalists that honors excellence in all areas of New York theater, including Broadway, off-Broadway, off-off-Broadway and not-for-profit theater. The group recently made headlines when a dismissed member of the nominating committee aired grievances through Michael Riedel's column in The New York Post. The nominating committee, which includes chairperson Barbara Siegel, Dan Bacalzo, Robert Cashill, Celia Ipiotis, Gerard Raymond and Richard Ridge, was defended by the group's president, William Wolf, and a variety of past winners.
