Jason Robert Brown's musical 13 appears headed for a fall run on Broadway, according to Variety. The show is eyeing the Jacobs Theater where the current revival of The Country Girl is booked through July 20, for a September debut, produced by Bob Boyett, directed by Jeremy Sams and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli.
13 debuted last season at the Mark Taper Forum in L.A. in a production directed by Todd Graff and has been nominated for several L.A. Drama Critics Circle Awards. The musical is set for another production at Goodspeed Opera House's Normal Terris Theatre from May 9 to June 8, directed by Sams. It includes a rock score by Brown Parade, The Last Five Years and a book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn, the latter of whom joined the 13 team after the L.A. run.
According to the Goodspeed's description of 13, Evan Goldman has it all—he's popular, has the "perfect" family and lives in the greatest city in the world, New York, until his parents get divorced and he's forced to move to a small town in Indiana. Uprooted from his old life, he has to make new friends and somehow maneuver the minefield of high school to become part of the in-crowd. 13 is described as a high-energy musical comedy for all ages performed by a cast of young actors.
In addition to the Tony-winning Spring Awakening, 13 will follow the Broadway debut of another teen-related musical, Glory Days, which opens at Circle in the Square on May 6.
