Tony Award nominee Bobby Cannavale will join the cast of MCC's previously announced one-night-only reading of Neil LaBute's Fat Pig on June 9. The reading will be held at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, where LaBute's Reasons to be Pretty is presently running, and will be helmed by original director Jo Bonney.
Cannavale joins previously announced cast members Ashlie Atkinson, Jessica Capshaw and Steven Pasquale. Fat Pig, the second show in LaBute's trilogy on America's obsession with physical beauty, debuted at the Lortel in December 2004 in an MCC production starring Atkinson, Andrew McCarthy, Jeremy Piven and Keri Russell; Capshaw and Pasquale replaced Piven and Russell during the run. The play won the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play.
In conjunction with Reasons' run and the reading of Fat Pig, The Shape of Things will also enjoy a special reading on June 23 at the Lortel Theatre, starring original cast member Paul Rudd under the direction of Carolyn Cantor.
