Ashley Spencer and Derek Keeling, finalists in the reality casting series You're the One That I Want, will get their turn in the spotlight as Sandy and Danny in Grease, beginning July 22. Max Crumm and Laura Osnes, who won the competition and opened the Broadway revival last summer, will play their final performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on July 20.
Spencer placed second in televised competition, where she was known as "Ballerina Sandy." She comes to Grease directly from playing Amber von Tussle in the Broadway company of Hairspray.
Keeling placed third in You're the One That I Want, where he was dubbed "Wholesome Danny." He most recently appeared in the pre-Broadway production of A Tale of Two Cities and played Chad in the West Coast premiere of All Shook Up. Keeling starred as Danny in a national tour of Grease opposite Frankie Avalon and Chubby Checker.
In addition to Keeling and Spencer, Grease stars Taylor Hicks as Teen Angel, Ryan Patrick Binder as Doody, Susan Blommaert as Miss Lynch, Will Blum as Roger, Jeb Brown as Vince, Janine DiVita as Rizzo, Allison Fischer as Patty, Robyn Hurder as Marty, Lindsay Mendez as Jan, Jose Restrepo as Sonny, Matthew Saldivar as Kenickie, Jamison Scott as Eugene and Kirsten Wyatt as Frenchy. The ensemble features Josh Franklin, Cody Green, Natalie Hill Cha-Cha, Matthew Hydzik, Keven Quillon, Allie Schultz, Brian Sears, Christina Sivrich, Amber Stone and Anna Aimee White.
