13 follows Evan Goldman, a New York City teen who has it all—until his parents get divorced. Forced to move to Indiana with his mother, Evan has to make new friends and somehow maneuver his was through the minefield of high school in order to become part of the “in” crowd. A modern coming-of-age story for viewers in all age brackets, the show is performed by an all teenaged cast.
Elish is the author of seven novels, including Born Too Short, Confessions of an 8th Grade Basket Case and The Misadventures of Justin Hearnfeld. His writing has appeared on children's programs such as Cyberchase and The Wonder Pets.
Horn wrote material for Broadway's Dame Edna: Back with a Vengeance. A veteran of television and film, his writing and production credits include Designing Women, Living Single and High Society. Film credits include Good Advice and Wild Life.
Sams made his Broadway directorial debut with 2001's revival of Noises Off. He received two 2003 Tony Award nominations for Best Original Score and Best Book for his contributions to Amour. His compositions for Arcadia and Some Americans Abroad were seen at Lincoln Center. Most recently, Sams adapted Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for the stage. His work as a composer includes Uncle Vanya, Persuasion, The Mother and Enduring Love.
13 will feature scenic and costume design by Tony nominee David Farley Sunday in the Park with George, lighting design by Tony Award winner Brian MacDevitt The Coast of Utopia: Part I and sound design by Jon Weston The Color Purple. The show will be produced by Bob Boyett, Roger Berlind, Tim Levy, Stacey Mindich, Ken Davenport, Broadway Across America, Jane Bergere, Carl Moellenberg, Ted Hartley, and Sharon Karmazin in association with The Araca Group.
