Tony Award nominee Bobby Cannavale will be featured in Naked Angels' off-Broadway premiere of Frank Pugliese's The Talk this fall, beginning performances at the Cherry Lane Theatre on September 9. The play, directed by Sheryl Kaller, will open September 22. The Talk also stars actors Bruce MacVittie and Titus Welliver.
The Talk is described as a darkly comic work about four brothers who come home for their mother's funeral to find a past they never knew of, and the words to comprehend it. The production will reunite former Naked Angels Artistic Director Pugliese with the company, who also produced his The King of Connecticut and The Alarm.
MacVittie, last seen on Broadway in 1983's American Buffalo, was a founding member of Naked Angels. His numerous off-Broadway credits include Album, A Body of Water, Golden Boy, A Flea in Her Ear and The Exonerated. MacVittie's film credits include Million Dollar Baby, Brooklyn's Finest, Hannibal and The Doors. TV credits count Law & Order, CSI, Oz and Sex in the City.
Welliver has performed off-Broadway in Circle in Laurence Fishburne's Riff Raff. His film credits include JFK, The Doors, Biker Boyz and Gone Baby Gone. His TV appearances include Law & Order, Numb3rs, Jericho and HBO's Deadwood, on which he played the role of Silas Adams.
Pugliese won a 1993 OBIE Award for his Aven'U Boys. Additional off-Broadway credits are Hope is the Thing with Feathers and Kaos, as well as Some Voices as a director.
Creative team for The Talk includes Derek McLane set design, Russell Champa lighting design, Mattie Ullrich costume design and Bart Fasbender sound design. The production is presented in association with Susan Dietz and Barbara Manocherian.
