In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Bianca Marroquin will return to the Broadway cast of Chicago on September 15 as merry murderess Roxie Hart. Marroquin first played the role in a 2002 production in Mexico City, which won her five awards from the Mexican Critics Association, including New Revelation and Best Actress. Later that year, she debuted on Broadway as Roxie, a transition that made Marroquin the first and only Latina actress to cross over from Mexico to Broadway in a leading role. She replaces Michelle DeJean.
Marroquin also starred in Chicago's third national tour, for which she earned the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2004. Earlier this year, she was recognized by the General Consulate of Mexico for her unparalleled success as a Mexican actress on Broadway.
