Theater vets Brian Bedford, Peter Gallagher, Angela Lansbury, Cynthia Nixon and John Slattery will join previously announced star Annette Bening in a reading of All About Eve benefitting The Actors Fund. The starry event will be held on November 10 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, directed by John Erman.
Bedford will play Addison DeWitt, Gallagher will play Bill, Lansbury will be Birdie, Nixon will be Karen and Slattery will play Lloyd opposite Bening as Margo Channing, a prominent yet aging Broadway actress. Additional casting, including the role of Eve Harrington, will be announced soon.
Written and directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, the 1950 film All About Eve starred Bette Davis as Margo, with Anne Baxter plays Eve, a willingly helpful young fan who insinuates herself into Channing’s life, threatening the star's career and personal relationships. The film, which also featured George Sanders, Celeste Holm, Hugh Marlowe, Gary Merrill, Marilyn Monroe and Thelma Ritter, was nominated for 14 Academy Awards and won six, including Best Picture.
