The Vineyard Theatre’s production of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s Wig Out!, a play about a drag competition, is extending. The show’s limited engagement will now close on November 16.
Wig Out!, directed by Tina Landau, utilizes everything from pop music to Shakespeare to tell the story of two competing drag houses and the loves, loyalties, and dreams within each that draw their members together and apart.
The cast includes Daniel T. Booth, Joshua Cruz, Glenn Davis, Sean Patrick Doyle, McKenzie Frye, Nathan Lee Graham, Angela Grovey, Andre Holland, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Erik King, and Clifton Oliver.
The show features scenic design by James Schuette, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, sound design by Robert Kaplowitz and hair, wig and make-up design by Wendy Parson.
McCraney is the author of the play, The Brothers Size, which ran at the Public Theater in early 2007. That year, he was also the first recipient of The Vineyard's Paula Vogel Playwriting Award.
