Donna Vivino will join the national tour of Wicked as Elphaba beginning November 5 at Minneapolis’ Orpheum Theatre. Katie Rose Clarke continues as Glinda, along with Myra Lucretia Taylor as Madame Morrible and Lenny Wolpe as the Wizard.
Vivino made her Broadway debut at age eight in the original Broadway cast of Les Miserables and has appeared in the Broadway companies of Saturday Night Fever, Hairspray and Martin Short’s Fame Becomes Me. She originated the role of Enid Hoopes in the pre-Broadway workshop of Legally Blonde and had been the Elphaba standby on tour.
Clarke joined the Wicked tour as Glinda in November 2007 after having played Clara Johnson in the Broadway production, live PBS broadcast and national tour of The Light in the Piazza. She appeared in the debut of Craig Lucas’ new play, Prayer for My Enemy, at the Long Wharf Theatre and in Anything Goes at Theatre Under the Stars.
Taylor has appeared on Broadway in Nine, Macbeth, Electra, Chronicle of a Death Foretold and A Streetcar Named Desire. Wolpe, who created the role of the Wizard in the Los Angeles workshops of Wicked, has appeared on Broadway in The Drowsy Chaperone, The Sound of Music, Copperfield, Into the Light and Onward Victoria.
Wicked will run in Minneapolis through December 7, then move on to Detroit December 10-January 4 and Louisville January 7-February 1 in an ongoing national tour.
