Law & Order alum Annie Parisse and Tony Award winner Kelly Bishop are among the cast members in Second Stage's forthcoming production of Gina Gionfriddo's Becky Shaw. The play, which enjoyed an acclaimed run at the Humana Festival last summer, will begin previews on December 16, with opening set for January 8, 2009, directed by Huntington Theatre Company Artistic Director Peter DuBois.
In addition to Parisse who starred in the Broadway revival of Prelude to a Kiss and created the title role in Becky Shaw and Bishop (A Chorus Line, Six Degrees of Separation, TV's Gilmore Girls), the play will feature David Wilson Barnes, an original cast member at the Humana Festival, Emily Bergl (Some American’s Abroad, TV's Men in Trees) and Thomas Sadoski (Reasons to be Pretty, Reckless).
In Becky Shaw, a newlywed couple fixes up two romantically challenged friends: the wife’s best friend and the husband’s sexy but strange new co-worker. Crisis and comedy ensue when an evening arranged to bring the unlikely pair together takes a dark, unexpected turn, asking audiences what we really owe to the people we love and the strangers who land on our doorstep.
Becky Shaw features scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Jeff Mahshie, lighting design by David Weiner and sound design by Walter Trarbach.
