Frost/Nixon star Frank Langella, currently headlining the Broadway revival of A Man for All Seasons as Sir Thomas More, has been named one of Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People of 2008, according to USA Today. Walters will reveal the name of the most fascinating person of all in an ABC primetime special airing December 4.
Langella qualifies as a surprise choice in a list that also includes transgendered “pregnant man” Thomas Beatie, Tom Cruise, Miley Cyrus, Tina Fey, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Michael Phelps and Will Smith. Yes, that’s nine people; presumably President-elect Barack Obama will win the title. Walters cited the buzz surrounding the three-time Tony winner’s performance as Richard Nixon in Ron Howard’s film version of Frost/Nixon for putting the 70-year-old actor on the coveted list.
