Full details and casting have been announced for Primary Stages’ forthcoming New York premiere of Shipwrecked! An Entertainment – The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont As Told by Himself, a new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning scribe Donald Margulies. The show, directed by Primary veteran Lisa Peterson, begins previews January 27, 2009, at 59E59 Theaters with opening set for February 8. The limited engagement plays through March 7.
The three-person cast of Shipwrecked! will star Jeremy Bobb Is He Dead? as Player 2, Michael Countryman Dedication or the Stuff of Dreams as Louis de Rougemont and Donnetta Lavinia Grays Well as Player 1.
Shipwrecked! An Entertainment — The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont As Told by Himself tells the story of Louis de Rougemont, a would-be explorer who invites audiences into his amazing story of bravery, survival and celebrity. Featuring exotic islanders, rustic vessels and life on the high seas, the production examines how far we're willing to blur the line between fact and fiction in order to leave our mark on the world.
The author of Sight Unseen, Collected Stories and the Pulitzer-winning Dinner with Friends, Margulies continues his relationship with Primary Stages, where his The Model Apartment won an Obie Award for Playwriting in 1995.The show’s creative team includes Neil Patel sets, Michael Krass costumes, Stephen Strawbridge lights and John Gromada sound. Shipwrecked!… will be followed by the world premiere of Tina Howe’s comedy Chasing Manet, running March 24 through May 2.
