Lisa Emery, Peter Benson & More Join Cynthia Nixon in Distracted

Casting is complete for Roundabout Theatre Company’s upcoming off-Broadway production of Lisa Loomer’s Distracted starring the previously announced Cynthia Nixon. The play will begin previews on February 7, 2009, at the Laura Pels Theatre and will open on March 4, directed by Mark Brokaw.

Joining the Tony-winning Nixon will be Peter Benson To Be or Not To Be, The Pajama Game as Dr. Broder, Dr. Karnes and Dr. Jinks; Shana Dowdeswell Substitution, This Bloody Mess as Natalie; Lisa Emery Mouth to Mouth, Abigail’s Party, The Women as Vera; Natalie Gold The Language of Trees, Howard Katz as Dr. Zavala, Waitress and Carolyn; Matthew Gumley Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast as Jesse; Mimi Lieber Brooklyn Boy, I’m Not Rappaport as Sherry, Aleta Mitchell Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Ohio State Murders as Mrs. Holly, Dr. Waller and Nurse; and Josh Stamberg Tape as Dad.

Distracted is described as a fast-paced and disarmingly funny look at parenting in the age of the Internet and Ritalin. In this New York premiere, a contemporary American mom Nixon reaches out to teachers, psychotherapists and neighbors to figure out if Attention Deficit Disorder is the root of her son’s problems.

The design team for Distracted will include Mark Wendland sets, Michael Krass costumes, Jane Cox lights, David Van Tieghem original music & sound and Tal Yarden projections.
