A week before it debuts on Broadway, the new Chinese martial-arts spectacular Soul of Shaolin has partnered with Crunch gyms to present an exclusive fitness class based on the show. Held at Crunch’s 38th Street location, classes are set to begin on January 9 at 5:30pm, and will be offered every Friday through January 23.
Taught by Shaolin Kung Fu Master Wu, this three-week class includes traditional Shaolin King Fu techniques that are used in the upcoming production, including kicks, jumps and punches, with a focus on connecting the mind, body and soul.
After appearing in Sydney, Macau and at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Soul of Shaolin marks the first time a production from the People’s Republic of China has appeared on Broadway. Featuring over 30 Chinese nationals who are highly skilled in Shaolin Kung Fu, it tells the story of a boy named Hui Guang who, after being separated from his mother by war, is raised by the monks of the Shaolin temple and becomes an accomplished Kung Fu master.
