Tom Wopat, Charlotte d’Amboise and Amra-Faye Wright are set to return to the Broadway revival of Chicago. Wright will reassume the role of merry murderess Velma Kelly on February 2, replacing Brenda Braxton. D’Amboise returns as Roxie Hart on February 13, replacing Melora Hardin, while Wopat slips into Billy Flynn’s shoes on February 16, replacing Tom Hewitt.
Wopat first joined the current Chicago revival as Billy Flynn in the spring of 2004, and has reprised his turn several times, as well as on the production’s national tour this past fall. D’Amboise first joined the company as Roxie Hart in 1999, and has returned to the role many times, most recently in the fall. This is Wright’s second Broadway appearance as Velma Kelly, after debuting in the role in 2006.
The Tony Award-winning Chicago, which plays at the Ambassador Theatre, recently celebrated its 12th anniversary, and is now the longest-running revival in Broadway history.
