MCC's Miscast Gala to Feature Butz, Esparza, O'Hara and More

Current The Third Story star Kathleen Turner will act as honorary chair for MCC Theater’s upcoming star-studded Spring gala, Miscast 2009. The benefit will play one night only March 9 at the Hammerstein Ballroom. The annual Miscast event features a diverse array of stars performing songs from roles in which they would never be cast.

Initial performers announced for the evening include Daniel Breaker, Norbert Leo Butz, Raul Esparza, Beth Leavel, Kelli O’Hara, Steven Pasquale, Alice Ripley and Aaron Tveit. Additional casting will be announced shortly.

In addition to raising proceeds for MCC’s production, play development, education and outreach programs, Miscast 2009 will honor producer Elizabeth I. McCann for her commitment to producing new work and reaching new audiences both on and off-Broadway. As a producer, McCann has won eight Tony awards for her involvement in The Goat, Copenhagen, A View From the Bridge, Dracula, The Elephant Man, The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, Morning’s at Seven and Amadeus.
