Rosie Benton and David Furr have joined the cast of the Manhattan Theatre Club’s upcoming Broadway production of Samson Raphaelson’s Accent on Youth. They join previously announced star, Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce. Previews begin at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on April 7, with opening night set for April 29, directed by Tony Award winner Dan Sullivan. Complete casting has yet to be announced.
The cast also includes Charles Kimbrough Tony Award nominations for Sunday in the Park with George and Company, Lisa Banes Arcadia, Mary Catherine Garrison MTC’s Top Girls and Rabbit Hole and Byron Jennings MTC’s Sight Unseen.
Written in 1934, Accent on Youth tells the story of a successful playwright Pierce who saves his latest script once inspired by his young secretary Garrison. Until the script gets staged on Broadway, and the playwright learns the show's young leading man Furr is being inspired by her, too.
Benton made her Broadway debut last year in Les Liasons Dangereuses and starred in Lincoln Center Theater's off-Broadway production of Saturn Returns last fall. Furr’s Broadway credits include Cymbeline, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Rivals and King Lear.
The creative team for Accent on Youth includes John Lee Beatty scenic design, Jane Greenwood costume design, Brian MacDevitt lighting design and Obadiah Eaves sound design.
