Although a previous casting announcement had indicated that John Mahoney would play Arvide Abernathy, a press release issued on April 22 said that the role has not been cast. The following cast members have been added: Herschel Sparber Big Jule, Jason Graae Benny Southstreet, Bill Lewis Harry the Horse, Danny Stiles Rusty Charlie, Amir Talai Angie the Ox/Joey Biltmore, Jody Ashworth Lt. Brannigan, Cindy Benson Agatha and Grace Wall Martha.
Also cast in the production are Sandahl Bergman, Valarie Pettiford, Jane Lanier, Kathryn Wright, Jillana Laufer and Tracy Powell as the Hot Box Girls; Oskar Rodriguez, Stefan Raulson, Angelo Rivera, Christopher L. Morgan, Chris Holly and John Todd as the male dancers; and David Raimo, Paul Dean, Daniel Guzman, John Christoff, Kyrra Richards, Nikki Tomlinson and Catherine Chiarelli in the ensemble.
Musical direction for Guys and Dolls will be by Kevin Stites conducting the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, with choreography by Tony Award winner Donna McKechnie.
Greene, who was a cast member of the TV series Pushing Daisies, recently joined the cast of TV’s Heroes. A 1977 Tony nominee for Threepenny Opera, Greene has appeared on Broadway in Three Men on a Horse. She created the role of Audrey in the original off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors.
Based on short stories by Damon Runyon, Guys and Dolls features a score by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, as well as the classic songs “Adelaide’s Lament,” “I’ll Know” and “Luck Be A Lady.” It premiered on Broadway on November 24, 1950, and won five 1951 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. A revival of Guys and Dolls is currently running at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre, starring Craig Bierko, Lauren Graham, Kate Jennings Grant and Oliver Platt.
