Matthew Broderick, star of the current Broadway revival of The Philanthropist, and his actress wife Sarah Jessica Parker have confirmed that their family is about to get bigger. According to a statement from their publicist, the couple is "happily anticipating the birth of their twin daughters later this summer with the generous help of a surrogate. The entire family is overjoyed."
Broderick, 47, and Parker, 44, married in 1997 after a five-year courtship and are parents of a six-year-old son, James Wilkie. They appeared on Broadway together in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, the musical that won Broderick his second Tony Award; his first Tony was for Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs, and he received a Tony nomination for The Producers.
Broderick and Parker have been out and about in New York City in recent weeks, photographed together at his April 26 Broadway opening night, at the opening of Mary Stuart and at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of his latest movie, Wonderful World. Parker is filming Did You Hear About the Morgans?, a romantic comedy co-starring Hugh Grant, and plans to produce and star in a sequel to the 2008 feature film version of Sex and the City.
