Tony Award winner Julie White and Tony nominee Stark Sands are among the latest additions to the cast of Twelfth Night, which will be presented in Central Park this summer by the Public Theater. Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway will play Viola in the production, which will run June 10-July 12 at the Delacorte Theater, directed by Daniel Sullivan. Opening night is June 25.
White, a Tony winner for The Little Dog Laughed, will play Maria, and Sands, a Tony nominee for Journey’s End and co-star of CSC’s production of The Tempest earlier this season, will play Sebastian. New cast members also include Herb Foster as Valentine, Kevin Kelly as the Sea Captain, Baylen Thomas as Curio and Jon Patrick Walker as Fabian.
Already announced, in addition to Hathaway, are cast members Michael Cumpsty as Malvolio, Raúl Esparza as Orsino, Hamish Linklater as Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Audra McDonald as Olivia, David Pittu as Feste and Jay O. Sanders as Sir Toby Belch.
One of Shakespeare’s most beloved romantic comedies, Twelfth Night follows the romantic adventures of Viola and her identical twin Sebastian, both shipwrecked in the enchanted dukedom of Illyria.
The Public’s production of Twelfth Night will feature scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Jane Greenwood, lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, sound design by Acme Sound Partners, fight direction by Rick Sordelet, choreography by Mimi Lieber and original music by the symphonic folk-rock band Hem.
