Peter Sarsgaard and Maggie Gyllenhaal Marry in Italy

Peter Sarsgaard and Maggie Gyllenhaal, who appeared together off-Broadway in January in Classic Stage Company’s revival of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, were married on May 2 in Brindisi, Italy, the actress’ spokeswoman confirmed to People.com. Sarsgaard also starred in the Broadway revival of Chekhov’s The Seagull last fall opposite Kristin Scott Thomas.

Gyllenhaal and Sarsgaard have been together since 2002 and are the parents of a two-year-old daughter, Ramona. The wedding reportedly took place in a small chapel in Brindisi, on the Adriatric Sea, with Gyllenhaal’s actor brother, Jake, and his girlfriend, actress Reese Witherspoon, in attendance.

In addition to his two Chekhov plays this season, Sarsgaard’s theater credits include Kingdom of Earth, Burn This and Laura Dennis. His many film credits include Rendition, Kinsey, Shattered Glass, Jarhead co-starring his new brother-in-law and Boys Don’t Cry.

In addition to Uncle Vanya, Gyllenhaal’s theater credits include Homebody/Kabul and Closer. Her many film credits include The Dark Knight, Secretary, Sherrybaby and Adaptation.
