In addition to Roberts Oscar Wolfe and Collins Gilbert Marshall, The Royal Family will star the previously announced John Glover Herbert Dean, Rosemary Harris Fanny Cavendish, Jan Maxwell Julie Cavendish and Reg Rogers Tony Cavendish.
This classic 1927 comedy of manners follows the Cavendishes, the famous family of stage stars, as they go about the drama of the day: choosing scripts, dashing off to a performance, and stealing kisses with handsome beaus. But what’s this business about the younger Miss Cavendish wanting to quit the stage for domestic bliss? Never, darling!
Roberts most recently appeared on Broadway in Xanadu and the revival of Barefoot in the Park. A two-time Tony nominee for Play It Again, Sam and How Now, Dow Jones, he has starred in the Broadway productions of The Tale of Allergist’s Wife, Cabaret and Victor/Victoria, among many others.
Collins, best known for his starring role in the TV series 7th Heaven, returned to Broadway in 2008 as King Arthur in Spamalot. He was part of the original Broadway cast of The Ritz and co-starred with Julie Andrews in the off-Broadway production of Putting It Together.
Additional casting and creative team members for The Royal Family will be announced in the coming weeks.
