Kristin Scott Thomas to Star in Paris Mounting of A Little Night Music

Kristin Scott Thomas will star in an English-language production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s 1973 musical A Little Night Music to be produced in Paris, according to an interview in the New York Daily News. Scott Thomas said that the production will be mounted in Spring 2010 but did not reveal any further details about venue, co-stars or director.

“In Paris, it’s treated as an opera,” the actress said of A Little Night Music. “They’ve never done anything like this before, as they don’t go in for musical theater at all.” Scott Thomas starred in the fall 2008 Broadway revival of The Seagull and opens on May 21 as Jessica Biel’s mother in Easy Virtue, a feature film update of Noel Coward’s play.

The bilingual Scott Thomas, who gave an acclaimed performance in French in the recent feature film I’ve Loved You So Long, lives in France with her children.
