The Public Theater has announced the complete cast for Twelfth Night, its first Shakespeare in the Park production, which starts previews June 10 at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park.
Joining the cast of Shakespeare’s shipwrecked romance are Charles Borland, Andrew Crowe, Steve Curtis, Christopher Layer, Robin LeMon and Julie Sharbutt. The Daniel Sullivan-directed production is headlined by recent Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway Rachel Getting Married as the cross-dressing Viola; Stark Sands Journey’s End plays her lost twin brother Sebastian; 2009 Tony nominee Raúl Esparza Speed-the-Plow is the lovesick Duke Orsino “If music be the food of love, play on…”; four-time Tony winner Audra McDonald is Olivia, the object of Orsino’s affection. Comic relief is provided by Tony winner Julie White The Little Dog Laughed as brassy maid Maria, David Pittu as Feste the fool, Jay O. Sanders as Sir Toby Belch, Hamish Linklater as Sir Andrew Aguecheek and Michael Cumpsty as the pompous, put-upon Malvolio. The cast also includes Clifton Duncan, Herb Foster, Leslie Harrison, Slate Holmgren, Kevin Kelly, David Kenner, Dorien Makhloghi, Ray Rizzo, Baylen Thomas, Zach Villa and Jon Patrick Walker.
The mistaken identities and midsummer madness will run through July 12. Tickets are free, and distributed on the day of performance at the Delacorte and via the Public Theater website
