Kyle Dean Massey Joins Next to Normal; Tveit Returns in September

Kyle Dean Massey is set to join the cast of Next to Normal as Gabe. Massey, who replaces original star Aaron Tveit, begins performances at the Booth Theatre on June 9, 2009. Tveit is departing the production to prepare for his role in the Seattle run of Catch Me If You Can. He plays his final performance on June 6 and returns to the role on September 7.

Massey was most recently seen on Broadway as an ensemble member and Fiyero understudy in Wicked, a role he also played on the national tour. His other credits include playing Thalia in Xanadu and Matthew in the off-Broadway's Altar Boyz. 

Next to Normal, written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, is an emotional powerhouse of a musical about a family trying to take care of themselves and each other. The musical debuted at off-Broadway's Second Stage Theatre and also played at at Washington D.C.'s Arena Stage. It opened at the Booth Theatre on Broadway and has been nominated for 11 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
