John Leguizamo has set initial dates for a forthcoming tour of his new show, John Leguizamo Live!, beginning July 10 at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. The writer/performer will play a different city each week through the fall.
In John Leguizamo Live!, the noted monologist will offer vivid accounts of where he’s been and the colorful characters who’ve shaped different facets of his life. From his adolescent memories in Queens, New York, to the early days of his acting career and far beyond—with stories of the 80s avant-garde downtown theater scene and anecdotes from major movie sets and roles opposite some of Hollywood’s biggest stars—John Leguizamo Live! is described as both uproarious and heartfelt, laying it bare for anyone willing to come along for the ride.
Leguizamo’s solo shows include Mambo Mouth, Spic-O-Rama, Freak (which was filmed for HBO during its 1998 Broadway run) and Sexaholix (also filmed for HBO). He most recently appeared on Broadway in American Buffalo, and his stage credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, La Puta Vida and Parting Gestures. Leguizamo’s extensive film credits include Love in the Time of Cholera, The Happening, Righteous Kill, The Babysitters, The Take, Moulin Rouge, Summer of Sam, Romeo + Juliet, Dr. Doolittle, Carlito’s Way and Casualties of War.
Dates and venues for John Leguizamo Live! include the Long Wharf (July 10-11), Berkeley Theatre in Toronto (July 14-18), Lensic Performing Arts Center in San Francisco (July 23-24) and Indiana Repertory Theatre in Indianapolis (July 31-August 1). The tour is being presented by WestBeth Entertainment.
