Evan Rachel Wood is an Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe nominated actress. She gained critical acclaim and was nominated for an Emmy in both 2017 and 2018 for “Lead Actress in a Drama Series” for her role as Dolores in HBO’s hit series Westworld. She also received a Critics Choice Award for “Best Actress in a Drama Series,” a Golden Globe Nomination for “Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series, Drama”, and a SAG Nomination for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series” all for her role in Westworld. She also received a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination for "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie" for her portrayal of Veda Pierce in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce. She earned acclaim for her powerful performance as Stephanie, Mickey Rourke’s estranged daughter in Darren Aronofsky’s 2008 film, The Wrestler. A working actress since she was five, Wood had her breakout role in 2003 with Catherine Hardwicke’s controversial independent film, Thirteen (2003), for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Actress in a Drama as well as a Best Actress SAG Award. After a one season role on the drama Profiler, she was cast as a series regular on the award-winning series, Once Again, in which she appeared for four seasons. Her first major screen role was Digging To China, with Kevin Bacon, followed by Practical Magic, with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. Her subsequent films include Down in the Valley, Running With Scissors, King of California and The Life Before Her Eyes. She displayed her singing talents in 2007 with her role as Lucy in Julie Taymor’s Across the Universe, set to the songs of the Beatles. In 2010, she was seen in Robert Redford’s, The Conspirator in which she starred alongside James McAvoy and Robin Wright. She also appeared as Queen Sophie-Ann Leclerq in the critically acclaimed HBO show, True Blood. Wood starred in The Ides of March directed by and starring George Clooney. The cast also included Ryan Gosling, Marisa Tomei, Paul Giamatti, Philip Seymour Hoffman. Wood was also seen in Charlie Countryman alongside Shia LaBeouf and Mads Mikeelsen. In 2015, Wood starred alongside Elliott Page in Into the Forest, a film based on Jean Hegland’s apocalyptic novel about two sisters struggling to survive in the wilderness after society collapses. She starred in the film Allure, which premiered at Tiff in 2017 and was directed by Carlos and Jason Sanchez. Wood also starred in the hit Disney animated film FROZEN 2 released November 2019. In 2020, Wood starred in the Miranda July film Kajillionaire which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival that same year. In 2017, Wood received the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Visibility Award, honoring her advocacy on behalf of the LGBTQ community. In February 2018, she took to Capitol Hill to testify in front of Congress to advocate for the implementation of the Sexual Assault Survivor's Bill of Rights Act in all 50 states. In April 2019, Wood created, wrote and championed The Phoenix Act in California (which was signed into law as of October 2019), which extends the statute of limitations for domestic violence felony crimes in the state from three years to five years. The bill went into effect on January 1st, 2020, in California. In 2022, Award winning director Amy Berg dropped her two part HBO documentary, Phoenix Rising, in which Wood details her experience as a survivor of domestic violence to pursue justice, heal generational trauma, and reclaim her story, in a culture that instinctively blames women. Wood is also one-half of “Evan + Zane,” her band with Zane Carney. They first met over a decade ago on the set of a music video for Carney’s family band and officially became a band in 2018. Most recently, Wood starred as Madonna alongside Daniel Radcliffe in the film Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, which was released on The Roku Channel in November 2022. The film won “Best Movie Made for Television” at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards. Wood will next appear in D.W. Waterson’s film Backspot, which premiered last year at Tiff and is being distributed by XYZ Films this year.
