Namir Smallwood is recurring in the upcoming Showtime limited series American Rust opposite Jeff Daniels and plays the leading role in award-winning director Alex Thompson’s next indie feature, Rounding. No stranger to New York and Chicago theater, Smallwood has appeared in numerous productions such as True West opposite Jon Michael Hill and Bug opposite Carrie Coon (both of which resulted in a Jeff Award nomination), and Pass Over and Pipeline at Lincoln Center, which garnered him a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Play. A Newark, New Jersey native, Namir earned a BFA from the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program and is an ensemble member at Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
