Starring in 9 to 5 is Stephanie J. Block’s way to make a living, but it’s no secret that she’s been doing some musical moonlighting. We’re talking about her solo CD, This Place I Know, released just last month on PS Classics, in which she tackles tracks by Stephen Flaherty, Marvin Hamlisch, her Pirate Queen composer Claude-Michel Schonberg and her Wicked songwriter Stephen Schwartz, among others. (She even duets with Dolly Parton on Dolly’s classic “I Will Always Love You.”) So on July 1, before slipping into her Judy Bernly-secretary garb at the Marquis Theatre, Block visited Barnes & Noble Lincoln Triangle to sign CDs and sing a few songs.
