A Sunny Opening for Swimming in the Shallows

Be careful of the deep end! The opening of Swimming in the Shallows on June 28 at the Promenade Theatre was smooth sailing as compared to the complicated lives of the six characters on the stage. The show, written by Adam Bock and directed by Trip Cullman, takes place in Rhode Island (mostly at an aquarium), and deals with the complex love lives of these characters and a shark. While the humorous off-Broadway show playing at the Second Stage Uptown, may be a little twisted at times (a human falls in love with a shark, for example) the opening night celebration in the theater's lobby was as joyful as a day at the beach.
