A Toast to Horton Foote at the 2009 New Dramatists Luncheon
For the first time in its 60-year history, New Dramatists honored an artist posthumously at its spring benefit luncheon: Horton Foote. The organization, which supports the work of playwrights, pays tribute each year to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the American theater, and the Dividing the Estate playwright certainly fills the bill. In honor of Foote, who passed away on March 4 at age 92, Broadway’s best and brightest performers and writers gathered at the Marriott Marquis Hotel ballroom on May 19 for a festive event.
