Accolades and Applause for Christine Ebersole at Encores!
Applause, the musical based on the classic Hollywood movie All About Eve, needs a strong leading lady at its center. The movie had Bette Davis, of course, and the original Broadway version had none other than Lauren Bacall. Thus, it makes perfect sense that when Encores! decided to present this tuner by Betty Comden and Adolph Green (book), Charles Strouse (music) and Lee Adams (lyrics), they tapped Tony-winning diva Christine Ebersole.
