The Theatre World Awards ceremony always has the feeling of a family affair: Previous winners of the prize, which honors outstanding debut performances, return to pass the mantle to a new generation of Broadway and off-Broadway performers. Never mind that some of this year's winners are veterans of other stages (Harry Connick, Jr., as a singer; Felicia P. Fields in Chicago theater; Maria Friedman in London theater). Picking up their awards at Studio 54 on June 6, the winners were happy to have their breakthrough New York stage roles recognized. Broadway.com joined the applause.
