It was a sparkling spring morning in Central Park's Hecksher Fields as the dozens and dozens of cast and crew of various Broadway shows dusted off the diamond to play some softball. Yup, May 10 marked the start of the annual Broadway Show League, which began with the singing of the national anthem by the stars of
Jersey Boys, and representatives from the shows in the League generously delivering a check to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS for $50,000. From
Pirate Queen's Stephanie J. Block to the gyspies of
A Chorus Line to
The Coast of Utopia's Martha Plimpton, Billy Crudup and Ethan Hawke, as well as Broadway-to-Hollywood matinee idol Patrick Wilson, an eclectic bunch of showbiz vets displayed their team spirit and had a hell of a lot of fun. As did Broadway.com. Check it out.
