Broadway Stars Meet at Mets' Shea Stadium to Combat ALS

Thanks to the heroic efforts of Baseball Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis was brought out of the closet and into the mainstream of American life to understand and deal with in an utterly human and humane way in the early 20th Century. The battle to combat ALS continues to this day. Indeed, on June 1, a host of Broadway stars made a trip out to the home of the New York Mets, Shea Stadium, to show their support of Project ALS, which was founded by Valerie Estess, who lost her sister, theater director Jennifer Estess, to the disease four years ago. Joining Valerie was movie star (and Project ALS board member) Billy Baldwin, Mets star Carlos Delgado and Broadway's Michael Cerveris, Stephanie J. Block and Shuler Hensley, among others. Cheer them on by clicking on.
