Broadway's The American Plan Rolls Out the Stars

Nineteen years after it was first written, Richard Greenburg’s The American Plan made its Broadway premiere on January 22. Produced by Manhattan Theatre Club, the play takes place in 1960, and stars the Oscar and Tony Award-winning Mercedes Ruehl as a well-to-do, German-Jewish refugee who spends a secluded summer in the Catskills with her daughter, portrayed by Lily Rabe—until a dashing young WASP, played by Kieran Campion, swims ashore and bursts their proverbial bubble.
