The 2005 Tony Honors, held at Tavern on the Green on October 25, was hosted by the Doubt star and two-time Tony winner Cherry Jones. Tony winner Bill Irwin (who recently won for his dazzling work in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) and Tony winner Patti LuPone (currently starring in Sweeney Todd on Broadway) presented at the affair. The Tony Honors ceremony is an annual event to recognize important members of the theater community that do not necessarily fit into the formal Tony Awards categories. Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre were awarded to Peter Neufeld, a longtime Broadway general manager, and Theater Communications Group (TCG), the national service organization for the professional not-for-profit theater community. The occasion included readings from prominent playwrights, a selection of songs from musicals managed by Neufeld and plenty of praise all around. Bravo!
