Farewell to Urinetown

"What kind of musical is this?" Officer Lockstock answered Little Sally's question (or tried to) for over two years as Urinetown, the scrappy musical with the oddball title, played on Broadway. The musical equivalent of Cinderella--the show started at the NYC Fringe Festival, moved to an off-Broadway venue and then made it to the Great White Way--played its last performance on January 18 amid tears and howls of laughter. The show must close because its home, Henry Miller's Theatre, is being demolished to make way for a skyscraper. Plans to move the tuner never panned out. After the final performance, the Urinetown family headed to the Westbank Cafe for hugs, picture-taking and toasts. Take a look!
