Final Bow for B'way Math Hit Proof
If we're talking math, David Auburn's play Proof ran on Broadway for 916 performances, 116 weeks, 28 months... No matter how you add it all up, the show was an enormous success at the Walter Kerr Theatre thanks to leading ladies Mary Louise Parker, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Anne Heche, director Daniel Sullivan and the writing of Auburn, which earned the production the Pulitizer Prize for Drama and the 2001 Tony Award for Best Play. After the final bow on Sunday, January 5, castmembers from past and present celebrated an unqualified hit at Hurley's Saloon.
