Philadelphia is looking on the bright side of life lately, and it's doing so with a little help from over-the-top Tony-winning tuner
Spamalot. We dropped in on the touring production of the Monty Python-inspired show at Philadelphia's Academy of Music on August 23, watching as Tony winner Gary Beach (
The Producers, Beauty and the Beast) regally led his band of hopelessly inept knights through their journey as King Arthur, much to the delight of doubled-over audiences. The show's clip-clopping coconuts, Black Knights and vicious rabbits (with nasty, big, pointy teeth) will be in the City of Brotherly Love for the rest of the month, closing August 31 before traveling on to Hartford, Connecticut (but you New York locals can catch the Broadway cast in action at the Shubert Theatre anytime).
