The 30th anniversary tour of toe-tapping musical Ain't Misbehavin' doesn't depart on its national tour until November 14, but the cast was already hard at work on September 12. That's when they gathered with creator and director Richard Maltby Jr. to record tracks for the tour's cast album. The album, to be released by Rhino Records, is sure to satisfy fans of big voices—American Idol alums Ruben Studdard and Frenchie Davis (formerly of Rent) will lead the cast, which also features Patrice Covington, David Jennings and Idol season four finalist Trenyce Cobbins. Despite their killer work ethic, the cast did take a little time off to celebrate Studdard's (a.k.a. the Velvet Teddybear) birthday (and, with all those voices in one acoustically perfect place, that's one version of "Happy Birthday" that must have sounded amazing!).
