Jay Johnson Sends Bob to Smithsonian Via Sardi's
The morning after he received his first Tony Award nomination for his Two and Only! solo show, master ventriloquist Jay Johnson began the process of saying so long to his first and most famous scene partner, Bob. At a press conference at the legendary Sardi's in the heart of the Broadway theater district, Johnson prepared his original Bob—who rose to national attention in the '80s with Johnson on the hit '80s TV show Soap—for shipment to Washington, D.C., where the "wooden American" will be inducted into the Smithsonian. A pair of troupers to the end, we caught a couple of snaps.
