Gansevoort Plaza in the Village was thick with
Hair (long, beautiful hair) July 9 as the peace-loving Tribe of the iconic rock musical assembled for a special sneak preview before their much-anticipated opening on August 7 at Central Park's Delacorte Theatre. Decked out in flowing hippie threads, love beads and flowers of all shapes and sizes, the cast (including
Spring Awakening veteran Jonathan Groff,
110 in the Shade alum Will Swenson and
Rent graduate Caren Lyn Manuel) sang out the story of 1960s radicals who spread the word of peace and love during the Vietnam War. The psychedelic spectacle drew in hundred of fans and show supporters, including original co-librettist/lyricist James Rado and proud director Diane Paulus.
