The four-letter words were flying as a hugely talented cast took the stage at Carnegie Hall on January 29 for the first of two concerts of
Jerry Springer: The Opera. With film star Harvey Keitel in the title (non-singing) role, the evening gave New York theatergoers their first peek at a musical that won widespread acclaim in its London production, including the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Musical. The cast included a mix of opera singers and stage vets such as Emily Skinner, Linda Balgord and Max von Essen, directed by Jason Moore. Broadway.com came along to the hallowed Hall to see the show and congratulate the cast. Bigger than Oprah indeed!
