Oh, Mother! Meryl Streep and More Take the Stage for Courage in Concert at The Public Theater

Think Broadway's been starry lately? You should have been off-Broadway on October 19, when some serious star-wattage made its way to The Public Theater's Courage in Concert: The Songs from Mother Courage and Her Children benefit. A collection of songs composed by Jeanine Tesori for the Public's 2006 revival of Bertolt Brecht's Mouther Courage and Her Children, the concert reunited cast members Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Jenifer Lewis, Austin Pendleton and Frederick Weller for a night of song. Still not enough "big names" for you? How about we toss in current Broadway player and Hollywood heavyweight Daniel Craig, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Linda Emond, Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner and director Mike Nichols? All participated in the main event, which was so popular Tony Award nominated Hair stars Gavin Creel and Will Swenson were tapped to host a live-viewing of the concert, piped directly into Joe's Pub from the Public's Newman Theater, where the gala took place live onstage. Click on for a look at what was a V.I.P.-only kind of night!
