Pal Joey Bewitches at Star-Studded Opening

Broadway was bewitched, bothered and bewildered all over again on December 11, as the Roundabout’s revival of Rodgers and Hart’s classic Pal Joey returned for the first time in over 30 years, debuting to the press and theater community at Studio 54 before its official opening, slated for December 18. Matthew Risch jumped into the spotlight for the first time, taking over the famed title role after Tony Award winner Christian Hoff had to withdraw from the production due to an injury. The budding star had plenty of backup, however: Tony Award winner Stockard Channing plays Vera Simpson, and Tony Award nominee Martha Plimpton, makes her Broadway musical debut as cunning chorus gal Gladys Bum
