Piven, Esparza and Moss Bring Tinseltown to Broadway at Speed-the-Plow
We’ve got our own way of doing things on Broadway, which is why it was such devilish fun to take on Hollywood with the starry revival of David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow (the sometimes funny, sometimes gut-wrenching and always stinging play about swimming with the big fish in the film business), which opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on October 23. Cast members Jeremy Piven, Raul Esparza and Elisabeth Moss and director Neil Pepe drew plenty of eager supporters, including Mad Men’s Bryan Batt, Jon Hamm, Vincent Kartheiser and Rich Sommer, Hollywood veterans Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber and Patricia Clarkson, and Broadway alums Ian McShane, Jonathan Groff, Julie White and Cady Huffman (just to name a few!). After the stars took their first official bows, they and their entire glowing entourage glittered uptown to Red Eye Grill for an opening night bash for the books.
