Re-Opening Night! Strike Over, Broadway Stars Hit the Boards
With a deal reached between the stagehands union and the producers' League, the 19-day strike, which had put a work stoppage on all but nine shows on the Great White Way, ended, returning the bulk of Broadway to their jobs on Thursday, November 29. In the frenzy of excitement—and in a well-calculated series of pitstops—we captured 15 different companies returning to work. From stage door encounters to callboard sign-ins to brush-up rehearsals, we caught the stars of The Drowsy Chaperone, The Color Purple, The Little Mermaid, The Seafarer, August: Osage County, Cyrano, Avenue Q, Curtains, Spamalot, Spring Awakening, Jersey Boys, Chicago, Wicked, Legally Blonde and A Chorus Line as Broadway came completely back to life again.
